Get a check up!

A Lot of the times people think that just because they feel fine that they are in perfect health. Feeling good is not always a good indicator of what is going on within. I know some people ( not going to call names) who are petrified about seeing the doctor or the dentist. They think that no news is good news. Well last month this (person) got the courage up to go and visit the doctor for the first time in 7 years! To her dismay, she found out that she had tons of ailments that could have been prevented. The doctor informed her that she had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes!!!
She was a walking time bomb and did not even know it. This scared her so much that she has decided to change her lifestyle and make regular visits to her doctor. Her new routine includes a training regime of 3 days a week, dietary changes, meditation techniques and of course taking her medication.
When I asked her why she waited so long to visit the doctor she told me that she did not have medical insurance, she was scared and no one in her family ever made a big deal about going to the doctor. It's so sad but true but I get these responses often especially from my Latinas an African American women. If you are reading this blog and can relate to this woman's experience please make it a point to visit the doctor. If you do not have medical insurance, get some. It's not as expensive as you think. Sometimes it's better to invest in your health now than having to pay for treatments and hospitalization later! You can also visit health fairs and free clinics in your area!

Come visit me tomorrow at coral reef park to get weighed, measured and get a fitness analysis. Baptist hospital and Jackson hospital will also be there offering health check ups.
The health fair begins at 12 pm and ends at 5 pm.
Hope to see you there!
